I “volunteered” to be the early one out of Israel out of a whole bunch of us who are visiting here for work-issues. That means I got on a Friday flight out of Israel, and it was amazingly empty. Because of my elite status, I had 3 seats to myself, so up went the arm-rests, and I slept (lying down) for most of the flight. On the flight from Newark to San Francisco, the flight was extraordinarily full, and they began asking for volunteers to go on a later flight. So, I got upgraded to Business class. I slept, in relative comfort, for most of the flight.
“A little luck, and a little elite status.”
